Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
